SUGAR Raze salon are the proud
winners of the Observer's Salon of the Year 2007 competition -
bagging themselves our top trophy.
The tip-top hair shop, owned by Richard Thompson, proved
themselves to be the cream of the crop, beating a hatful of
other local choppers.
Richard Thompson said: "We're very chuffed. A lot of
clients have been voting for us and hopefully it will bring in
even more customers.
"I came in one Monday morning and there was a bit of wind
and it blew loads of the voting forms all over the shop."
The Peglar Way-based salon offers
ladies and gents cuts, colouring and wedding services from
professional stylists, Joyce Baily (pictured above) has been in
the business for more than 30 years and even taught at Crawley
College.
Richard has owned the Salon for
four years and has seen his business go from strength to strength.
He said "I've finally got a great team and we offer
professional services at great prices, so why not come and check
us out. And of course I'd like to offer many thanks to all who
voted for us."

"I was delighted to see
Richard and his excellent salon voted "Salon of the
Year" and I felt I had to comment as to just one of the
possible reasons for his shop's popularity!
My daughter had an accident with some hair dye one weekend which reacted leaving her with a purple colour. On Monday, her
head mistress said: I know it's not your fault, but please don't
come back to school tomorrow until you've managed to get your back
to a natural colour!"
When we phoned Richards shop for an
"emergency appointment", the staff dropped everything (
and they were pretty busy too) to ensure my daughter was seen
first thing on the Tuesday morning, they stripped the colours out
and tinted it brunette, achieving and excellent result!
Service like this deserves
recognition.
